Shakezulah Posted June 25, 2007 #51 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Last movie I saw was Knocked Up. I give it a solid 10/10 It's hysterically funny, yet completely realistic. I liked it even better than 40 Year-Old Virgin, which is saying a lot.
drakonwick Posted June 25, 2007 #52 Share Posted June 25, 2007 I seen "Evan Almighty"! It was a very good movie. I will give this one a great 9/10! Steve Carell is such a well rounded actor! I like his ability to be serious yet funny at the same time. Adding Morgan Freeman in as god again was good! He played the part well as he did in "Bruce Almighty". Gẹmiŋi Posted July 2, 2007 #54 Share Posted July 2, 2007 (edited) Oceans Twelve - 8/10 I liked the movie, watched it after I got home from the white stripes concert lastnight. Oops, it has to be new, or saw it in a theatre. Shooter - 3/10 I thought it was wayy too predictable. Unrealistic, and didn't like it too much. But the popcorn was good. jpalz Posted July 2, 2007 #55 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Last night I watched Ratattouille. The veredict, in one word: Awesome. Just awesome. I don't know how do they do it, but they have topped themselves again. Funny, touching, romantic (it's located in Paris, what do you expect?), this one has it all. Absolutely recommended. 9/
RushMaiden Posted July 2, 2007 #56 Share Posted July 2, 2007 I watched "Sicko" I give it a mixed review. The entire Moore narrative sytle gets a bit redundant after a while. I do agree with the major premise that insurance companies have put profits over people's health needs. But Moore misses the other major problems that plague our costly system. The fact is we can have universal health care and still have lower life expectancies then most industrialized countries. Not to take a shot, but obese people like Michael Moore increase health care costs with diabetes, high blood pressure, and Heart Disease. Our lifestyle has put health care costs over the roof. In addition, it trivializes many things that an impartial documentary must have. For instance, all of this talk about france is quite laughable. A few years ago, thousands of elderly french died during that heatwave do to slow response times from EMS. All of this Western European countries also have higher inflation, unemployment, and taxes then the USA. So once again, it just seems Moore it's taking a narrow view on the entire healthcare issue. But overall, it is entertaining and does have some good laughs. I give it a 7 out of 10. I also want to say that I am a registered independent and don't care for either political party. So it is my objective opinion.

Shalott Posted July 3, 2007 #58 Share Posted July 3, 2007 I'm feeling pretty generous lately. Transformers - 9/10 (missed a 9.5 because Jazz died and I hate when a good guy dies ) I downloaded 1408 and even though I totally didn't get it (was there anything to get?) that air-vent scene deserves a 9/10 on it's own. I was thoroughly freaked.

MaiTino Posted July 3, 2007 #60 Share Posted July 3, 2007 Apocolypto 10/10 Thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. I didnt know Mel Gibson had anything to do with it until a friend said "Apocolypto..urgghh Mel Gibson directed that, theres no way i'm gona watch that film" dont let your prejudices (if you have them) restrict you from watching this film. It was immense, the story has such depth and so many twists. The action is clever and brutal. The bods are rather nice . Many edge of seat moments and interesting twists. Camera angles and what not were superb at translating all of these elements. LOVE IT! GO SEE!
HowdyDoo Posted July 3, 2007 #61 Share Posted July 3, 2007 Norbit - (Forced to watch it with my son.) 1/10 My son liked it. I hated--HATED it. Stereotypes abound, but none of them were clever or funny. Murphy's main character was flat. The story line was old, REALLY old. Nothing new here--just same ol' stuff--minus the humor. KBA Posted July 3, 2007 #63 Share Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Captivity [Adv. Screening] 1/10 One of the worst, most pointless, unoriginal, one-sided movies I've ever seen. The acting was poor too. Pirates 3 7/10 Not so well made, they wasted too much time on new plot twists which weren't really going anywhere.. but "adventure" movies like these always appeal to me. I wish they would've given up some of the slapstick though and brought back some of the original comedy they had in the 1st one. Bokonontheancient Posted July 4, 2007 #64 Share Posted July 4, 2007 Live Free or Die Hard: Rating 9.5/10, One of the best action movies I've seen in awhile, is up there with The Matrix, the original Die Hard, and The Rock. By the way Bruce Willis is still bad-ass. - Bokonon
DevaDevil Posted July 4, 2007 #65 Share Posted July 4, 2007 El Laberinto del fauno (Pam's Labyrinth) 8/10 Very dark and obscure fantasy/Thriller about a girl living in a world of her own in the Franco-regime at the time of the second WW Finally a movie that is not forcibly feelgood. I will not say too much cos of spoilers, but it is a recommended movie for people who are into that dark feeling in a movie.

By the way Bruce Willis is still bad-ass. - Bokonon Just saw Live Free or Die Hard yesterday: I'll give it a 9/10 rating. Yep, Bruce is still a bad ass! The move was forumlaic--which is to be expected. (Bruce needs to save America and thousands of innocent lives from the weirdo/genius bad guy and at the same time save a family member.) But they still found ways to keep it fresh, and I was riveted to my seat and fell for the whole thing, hook, line and sinker. The audience clapped like hell at the end, which is rare for my area. A good time was had by all! Edited July 5, 2007 by HowdyDoo

the14u2cee Posted July 6, 2007 #72 Share Posted July 6, 2007 TRANSFORMERS- I was reluctant to say the least about going to see this movie because of the childish overtones of my youth when i was a freak with my figure's that turned my world (and bedroom) into a robot junkyard filled of parts and pieces of what we all deemed the future of the world with giant Transforming robots that were good and evil, cars, trucks and motor cycles. More then meets the eye, was said at least a hundred times in my house hold, Now saying that, I was very impressed with Movie, action seemed endless, except for some of the boy meets girl, boy falls for girl moments, and there were plenty of laughs along the way as well, I would recommend this movie to anyone who has about 2 1/2 hours to kill that would love to be taken on a childhood journey back where once this is what you imagined would happen when you were alone in your room with some of Hasbro's well thought out toy's that leave an endless imaginary adventure in your hands...... Transformers- 9/
Atheist God Posted July 6, 2007 #73 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Spiderman 3: 7/10 Not enough Venom, Parker was to emo and the movie was to short for the ammount of characters and story required. The SFX were alright but never really broke new ground as in the previous films as well. Hopefully the fourth installment will feature more of the Venom character and introduce Carnage as a villain. Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer: 5/10 The SFX were great but the story was bland and the had not really shown that much of Galactus or the origins of the Silver Surfer. The movie was in my opinion really boring. Live Free or Die Hard: 9/10 Great action flick good SFX better then the third installment. Please check you brains at the door as they aren't required for this film. This movie was actually a lot better then what I had expected. Hostel 2: 8/10 Yet another torture porn horror film, follows the same basic premise as the first but also focuses on the buyers a little bit as well. The ending for this movie maybe to much for some to handle but it did take it to a new level. === My next post will include reviews of Transformers, Sicko and Evan Almighty. Conspiracy Posted July 8, 2007 #74 Share Posted July 8, 2007 1408 7/10 Was pretty alright, not the scariest movie of all but it had its moments, really good ending to. Evan Almighty 8/10 Was actually pretty funny, you'd think it deal with a mass flood but instead it dealt with something much more closer to home and if it didn't happen the entire neighborhood would have been destroyed and everyone would have died.
