"I'm on the bum where the hoboes run

The air breaks with filthy chatter"

So,besides being creepy and decrepit, anybody ACTUALLY ask any old timers who live there about said going-ons?? :sleepy:

Yep...and with high definition!

well in response to your detailed look of the photo, i have taken it with the camera on my phone which has some pretty crappy res and i havent modified it cause i dont even know how you use photoshop or anything XD but even almost a year after taking that pic it still freaks me out every time i look at it, on the screen of my phone it looks like a normal face and i still remember something knocking my flashlight out of my hand after taking that pic. so either way take it which you you wish but i speak no lies

HI Everyone,

My name is tonecop45, and I live in the Atascocita area. I pass by this overpass everyday coming back from work. I also go shooting at the sportsman outlet shooting range quite frequently. Where is this place located and how do I reach it. I am interested in getting with a group to invesitgate this further. Any info would be appreciated.

How is it going? I come across this site while doing some "Homework" on this area. I have been to this site before and will be returning this weekend. I plan on returning to BLC also if I have time this weekend. But anyway I will keep you guys posted on what happends this weekend. I will be going to get some daytime pics and returning Sat. night to see what I can find.......

I'm still interested in going too. NME has given me all of his contact info. He suggested that a group meet informally first to discuss everything. As long as it's not on a Katy football night, I'm definitely in.

We should probably communicate details through PMs if you're serious about meeting.

We need to somehow get a small group together. There is another member that wants to go too. Let's try to use PMs to communicate and get a plan together to meet.

I'm looking forward to hearing what happens this weekend. Hopefully you can get to BLC too. Be careful!!

Hey everyone,

I just passed by the overpass again today and still trying to find out where this place is located. I see nothing but businesses around the whole area. I do look foward to meeting with people who are interested in seeing what all the hype is with this area. Let me know what you think.

Definately nothing spooky there, unless you consider hobos to be scary :P

Yeah, I like how you came to that conclusion even though you are not even in the US, and never stepped foot in the area.

To the Houston UM members:

Anyone interested in going out to do some exploring? I want to see if there is a second cemetery out there, and also what the boundaries are. I want to be able to map the area out ourselves instead of using aerial shots as a reference.

Only the basic equipment will be needed, such as camera, digital recorders and walkie-talkies would be great.

If anyone else is interested, please fill feel to let us know.

You can contact me, or Noah'sArkAngel...

My dad's been to Humble before, he said that he doesn't know anything about any of these places. . .but he said that there's a really good sea food restaurant down past the artisian well, in case you get hungry after "the hunt". hehehe. My grandma might know something about why they closed down, though. . .I think she lived around that area for a while.

My dad said if you want some good haunted places in Texas, there was a cabin in Old Waverly that my grandma spent the night in and a LOT of freaky stuff happened. A woman hung herself in one of the rooms. Anyways, my grandma, her husband, and one of their couple friends went. The other woman's friend went to sleep in the car because the house was freaking him out and he fell asleep for a little while. He woke up a couple of hours later and looked in the rearview mirror and he said there was a woman sitting behind him and her face looked purple-ish and he said something about her eyes, but I can't remember what it was. . .anyways it scared him so much that he peed on his self and banged his head on the door frame getting out and knocked himself out. My grandma was playing cards or something and she felt like something had just dropped into her lap and she looked down and there was a necklace that didn't belong to either her or the other woman. She sat it on the table to take with her and a few minutes later it was gone.

My dad went in the same house during the summer, and he said in the front room it felt normal, you know, like summer. . .but then he walked into the bedroom and he said it was so cold that you could see your breath. . .

That story still scares the crap out of me. . .any ways he said places around the Big Thicket and Saratoga are really scary. He experienced "lost time" on some road leading out of saratoga (or was it saratoga road?). . .45 minutes to be exact. . . And Honey Island used to have a haunted hotel, but I heard that it got torn down. Texas has a lot of really freaky places. Most of my family lives there, and they're all big "paranormal" buffs (especially my grandma, isn't that weird?), so they know a lot of good places. Oh yeah, and there was something about the "Kaiser Burnout" or something. . . I think it's got something to do with the saratoga light on "Ghost Rd" AKA "Bragg Rd". . . .

I wish I lived in Texas! I'd definitely go with you to those places! And I'd really like to see the artisian well too! I might be visiting around Christmas, so I'll certainly do what I can while I'm there!

Edit:

I forgot to add. . . don't trust everything you read on shadowlands. Most of the stories on there aren't backed up by facts. It's not their fault, they just take the stories that they find and put them on there. . .but, like with most ghost stories, alot of things have been fabricated. . .you might want to go to a library (Isn't Humble a pretty nice sized city? They should have a library, it should have plenty of information about the "haunted areas". . .) that way you can sort out what really happened.

Thanks for the kicka$$ story, I'll have to check it out. I know where New Waverly is located, so Old Waverly can't be far. You know how big Texas is though, "the other side of town" can take about an hour to drive to. I don't mind the travel though.

I'm sure you meant Bragg Rd aka Ghost Road. Saratoga is the town itself. I've been down Ghost Rd, it's a dirt road, a beaten path off the paved road that is already in the middle of no where. The dirt road known as Ghost Road goes about 10 miles in. At night, when driving down this rd, the overhead foliage is thick that headlights beaming down the rd creates a tunnel effect.

The Kaiser Burnout was a fire event that occurred during the American Civil War in the Big Thicket area of Southeast Texas.

Like their counterparts in the Kansas region, local Texans in the Big Thicket forest region who refused to fight for the Confederacy where referred to as Jayhawkers. [1] These refugees hid in the nearby thick wooded area and were often poor, lacking basic necessities such as food and clothing. They would live off of the land's wild fruit and often salvaged corn sacks from timber camps for clothing. [2]

Due to the numerous beehives near Honey Island, a vast concentration of these Jayhawkers formed a camp nearby. [3] Sympathetic locals would also bring supplies to this encampment, often in exchange for the honey that was stolen. [4]

In the spring of 1865, a Confederate captain named Charlie Bullock captured some of these refugees and locked them up in a shack near Woodville, but they managed to escape. Shortly after, Confederate Captain James Kaiser set fire to the canebrake region near Honey Island to flush the Jayhawkers out. The heat of the blaze was so hot that it would permanently scar the land as the cane never grew back.[5] Over 3,000 acres (12 km²) of the Big Thicket forest burned as well.[6]

Well, I agree and I am a Texas History guru. I will always study the land, even down to the Indian tribes that settled region. Since you live on the Gulf Coast, many of the tribes are based off the Coushatta Tribe, hence the Coushatta Casino in the Louisiana area where they are the most populated. I'll try to go to all the historic sites where all the battles took place. Battle of the Alamo (if you go there, the concrete area you stand on out front where everyone takes pictures of is a cemetery), San Jacinto Battlegrounds, The Goliad Massacre, Buffalo Bayou, Washington on the Brazos. Did you know that because of the battles for Texas independence from Mexico/Spanish , the United States took Utah, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, parts of Colorado, and a few more states. They should have gave us the Alamo and Texas, but since they did not, they lost so much more.

Yada yada yada....Sorry for my jibber jabber.... Can I really highjack my thread if I'm the OP? LOL :w00t:

Have fun guys, wish I could come along! Look foward to hearing your stuff

Thanks. The actual investigation probably won't take place for another two weeks. We're going to meet up initially to get to know each other and discuss what each member can contribute. Our next meeting will be during the day to explore the area prior to the investigation. We'll be back to post about the investigation later on.

You should go on halloween :D

That is the worst time to go especially since kids are known to frequent the area. I talked to my source with the local P.D. and he stated to me that alot of gang members use this area to smoke their drugs and hang out. I would rather go on a weekday outside a holiday.

hey everyone! I live to far away to possibly join your investigation but I think I might be able to contribute something anyway. If you have any pictures that you need lightened, darkened, contrast adjustments, or the like, send them to me and I'll fix them and resend them to you so you can post them in the threads. Just send me a pm through UM what you need done (I can't do it all though) and I'll give you my email address. Good luck, BE SAFE and have fun!
