1960 Evil Overpass ! Humble, TX

first off, i appologize for bumping such an old thread, but i have some fair stuff to add to this thread.

I am David Aranza, Im 20 years old, I was born in Houston, Texas, and i have lived in Humble, Texas for the past 9 years.

int he past year or two i got fairly interested in the ghost things [not much besides reading online] and i discovered alot of interesting things about Humble.

turns out this entire area was originally an Oil field, then the town was built on it. ive seen and heard of quite a few things

but anyways, id like to leave that for other stories [or another psot in here if i get postive responce], the reason i bumped this thread is because i have actually walked along these traintracks and around these woods, and i took a digital camera and took pictures of things, and a few of them had some interesting things...

First, this image, this was taken as we walked in torwards the woods. we had no flashlights, was just mea nd some friends screwing around, our cellphones and my cameras flash was the only light source we had. looka t the bottom, notice the glow of light/fog?

http://img201.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01092ec2.jpg

second image: obvious smoke/fog. keep in mind that no one was smoking at this time, there was absolutely no fog around us that night. it was a nice clear night [a bit chilly i admit, but not enough to even cause our breath to show when we breathe]

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/7047/dsc01105lr5.jpg

More fog...

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/1610/dsc01108lh7.jpg

Hi Dragonskull,

What time did you walk on the tracks? Was it raining before your walk? Was the fog already in the air while walking and was it visible for the naked?

so is this church still there?

The church is gone and a storage building was built in its place. I have a few items in storage with them right now. Mostly my hunting equipment. Nothing weird yet, but plan to have my items blessed before taking them to the hunting lease.

Have any of you ever heard of this area of North Carolina called "Sedgefield"? I've been there once, and I must admit that there was some weird things happening there. There was also some weird vibes. The story behind the place was that this guy that used to live there practiced black magic, and ended up killing his family there. I've looked for info on this but came up with none. I'll continue searching to see if I can find something.

the story is interesting and creepy. anyways, there's a similar story that happened in a local area in my country. it's quite long but pretty nice I must say.

here it is:

This story happened in the summer of 1984. It was semester break then, so I was out of the city, enjoying my vacation at my ancestral home in Bicol.

My bestfriend Anthony and I had borrowed my Mom's car to cruise for the day. Living in a small town, we sort just followed the road. It's not a road that I was very familiar with as it turned from asphalt to dirt a few miles out. We just kept driving, singing along with the radio. We had windows down, letting the wind make a mess of our hair.

Before we knew it, we had passed an old abandoned church. Curious, we turned around and went back, parked the car, and began checking things out. Upon closer inspection, the church didn't "look" abandoned: no weeds, no broken windows, and the inside was spotless.

Now, this may seem odd but being where we were and given the fact that the church was (almost) completely empty... we got spooked.

All we found in this church was a crucifix, lying on the floor like it had fallen from the wall.

There were a couple of rooms, perfectly kept, and a tiny bathroom, also neat as a pin. At this point, we began to feel as if someone was watching us, so we decided to make a quick exit.

Anthony and I drove around for another hour or so, then headed back to my house. He spent the night and went home the next day.

Two days later, I related our discovery to my friend Pete who was enthralled by our outing and wanted to go check out this church for himself. I agreed to go along the ride because he didn't know where it was. We arrived at the church, parked, and got out of the car.

Immediately I felt a presence, like someone was watching us. I was ready to get the hell out of there! Pete, however, had other plans. He had reached the steps before I did and made his way into the church.

When I reached the front steps leading into the church, I freaked! They were rotten and most of them broken; there were weeds growing up through them. I made my way inside only to discover that most of the windows were now broken; there were a few trees growing in through the broken ones.

The entire inside of the church looked as if it had been abandoned for years. Ceiling tiles on the floor, in some places, holes in the walls.

Now this may seem perfectly normal to see an abandoned church, and to see that it's been neglected for some years. The weird thing is that only two days before, it was in perfect shape. I know that it takes longer than two days for a building to get into such disrepair.

All this combined with the feeling that someone-or-something was watching us, scared me.

Needless to say, Pete and I beat a hasty retreat.

oh i forgot to indicate my source: Haunted Philippines, Real Ghost Stories 1.

Maggie,

This thread is about 1960 Overpass. Please post your story in another post. Now back to the thread, I was in the area yesterday and decided to walk around the tracks looking for signs. I was alone at around 2200 hours. Then as i got near the suspected cemetary, I heard running in all directions of the wooded part. I immediately started chasing the source of this noise. I could not tell if it were animals or something I was chasing. I am going back with some more people.

I plan on going sometime soon. Is the entrance near the Best Buy and Home Depot area, or is it under the 1960 overpass?

I usually enter through the trails behind the movie theater or panchos restaurant. The I walk north on the railroads tracks. I would not recommend going alone as you might encounter something. I have visited this area so many times with different people and saw nothing. Then I decided to venture the same area alone and thats when something strange happened.

What happened when you visited alone? Or did you post that story earlier in the thread... if so, just tell me the page and I'll read it.

I went tonight with some friends. Nothing strange happened. Just met a hobo and he kind of became our tour guide. I got some pictures, so I will post them later, but there is nothing strange in them.

I'm going to try some places in Spring next time, I suppose.

Moogle, Maggie and Sumisu...

Moogle, read the whole thread. It is one of my favorite here at this site and is very interesting. Another site sprang up more or less because of this one haunting, though there are other hauntings on that site also. Point being, this one is very intriguing and worth your time.

Maggie-Tonecop is not trying to be offputting. It would behoove you to move your interesting story to its own thread as more folks would see it and possibly respond about it generating your own interest where everyone knows where its at rather than being buried with this old thread.

Sumisu-Same thing as Maggie. Start a thread...please. Some of us want to read this stuff but don't know where it is when it doesn't have its own thread.

Maggie I just want to re-emphasize to you that you should start a thread on this story of yours. It is most interesting. Probably this forum is as good as any.

Was this hobo in good shape to run from someone? I remember chasing a noise and they were fast. No it was not an animal as I can tell the footsteps of a human and animal.

What did he look like? Did you get a picture of him?

I would like to see the picture. Did he mention anything weird about the area?

me and my wife as well as some spiritual friends of ours have been investigating this site for the past few days of the 1960 overpass area. since then we have seen alot of what is true about the legend of the woods. we found the moved cemetary as well as a few man made water holes about as big as a bus is long in diameter and unknown in depth. unfortunitly, when we found the second one we started to hear the laughter of little kids and the kicking of cans and we had to turn tail and get out while we could.

From what we have discovered is that a satanic cult has taken up in the woods. there are markings and signs that point to the woods area. When we were first seeing the cemetary area, we noticed fresh pvc pipe marking some of the graves as well as fresh american flags on some of the graves. i dont know what that means but as soon as i can get back there in the day light i will take pictures because the area is way less active during light. Alot of the tombs and concrete coverings in the yard have been broken and alot of the graves have been dug up as if they were moving them or someone is grave robbing them. I will say the area is still as dangerous as previously mentioned on here. Now the really interesting part is that we do have one EVP that we recorded from when we all walked the railroad tracks. at about 2:30AM. in the file my wife is asking why (whoever was around us) it was staying here. soon after a bit of silence, you hear a voice wisper "anne" not too clearly but its very hard to miss. i have cleaned up the audio a few times and tried to center the vocals of it and it appears to be a legit EVP. We havent taken to many pictures cause we are usually to busy with keeping protective barriers up and carrying around our boakin's. I can try to post the EVP as a file to where everyone can listin to it if they wish.

If you try to look at the area from google earth, you wont be able to find much. the tree cover is very heavy.

Also we have found another site not too far from the overpass that is very demonic. If you follow the train tracks south, you will come upon an abandon mill of some kind. Foundation and a few utilities are left but the site is used by a cult of some sort from the looks of it. i have not researched it much but it turns out that during texas's early years during the santa ana occupation of southeast texas during the war, the city of humble was just a few buildings and a saw mill. supposidly santa ana came through and pilaged and burnt down the town. what he did after that was he took the workers at the saw mill and layed them accross the railroad track and ran them over with a steam engine all in one time. the legend is that the same rail line that runs through old humble is the same rail line those men were killed on. I also know one other story but i havent investigated it yet.

!UPDATE! We revisited the overpass last night and found out some interesting things. for one, we now deam the train track areas off limits for an entrance. we nearly got smacked by 2 different trains. if we had not have watched our backs or the block signals we would have been like some of the bones we saw near the rails. Another thing we saw that grabbed our attention was the sighting of three people. When we got there, we examined the area under the overpass and saw the train coming. when the train passed, we saw three teen age kids running north on the tracks. for those of you not familier with the compass direction, they would be going toward the old cemetary in the woods. when we all finally got on to the tracks and looked north to see if we could see them, we saw all three head into the woods at three different spots. after this, we went down the tracks to investigate the three spots. not only did we not find a trace of them, but it seriously looked to be like they were ghosts themselves. to be honest they could have been demon spirits or just lost souls. but it was 2 guys and a girl. that whole rest of the night, our tape recorder picked up sounds of cans being kicked, extra foot steps, and a feeling like we were being pushed forward. We also got to investigate the bridge further north and found tons of satanic and neo nazi and demonic graphetie on the west side of bridge on the underside. Also we found traces of blood on the pavement which could have been human or animal. it was dried but still fresh for how much rain we have had. We still havent done a day investigation yet but would still like to. During the day investigation we will take photos, video, try to get an overall scoop of whats under the tree top. not to be off topic but our group started a myspace and we will post our investigations, photos, video, and EVP's on there. click here to view it Spiritual Beginings

Hey I live in that area! My friend is really in to ghost hunting and I’m big in to urban exploring. We both read about it in Weird Texas and loaded up gear and checked it out with some buddies, never any success though.(people with no interested in the paranormal can take the fun out of it) I have never heard anything about the railroad being hunted and the story of Santa Anna killing people with a steam engine that’s got to be some old stoners tell. The railroad wasn’t introduced to this area of town until the turn of century (late late 1800s). The only thing Santa Anna would’ve been killing people with would have been old P.S Humble’s ferry. Now that would’ve been quite a site.

I wouldn’t doubt that some Goth kids thought it would be a great idea to place some pentacles on the old bridge that stands over the San Jacinto. However it was a rumor I heard in high school that some kids got chased by some devil worshippers in humble, but the sources were some kids on acid. (I heard this story in 1994)

If you can get some photos and some EVP recordings posted here I would love to shoot it over to my buddy. I do fill inspired by your adventure and might have to mount an expedition to witches castle in Waco.

Am surprised with how active this place seems to be that not more videos and EVP's are popping up on this. Always be safe and please keep us posted.

ill post the recordings here in this post! remind you this is our very first EVP recording. Also we were walking along some railroad tracks. My wife is the one speaking and she told all of us to be quiet. The EVP occurs at just after 50 seconds in. We used a high quality digital voice recorder that uses dual mics for stereo sounds. At the time of the occurance, both mics were pointed in the direction of the woods. Since the file is double the size of the posting limit, ill make a link to it from my site. click here to download the EVP i own the site its downloading from so no worries.

Hi,

My names Amanda and my boyfriend and I have been very interested in the 1960 overpass 'stories' for quite some time now. Only we aren't sure exactly where it is, so in turn we're going tonight to check the place out. But from your gatherings i was curious of your personal opinion on the matter of it being safe, spiritually.
