Guest Lottie Posted June 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2007 UK terror threat now 'critical' The UK's national terrorism threat has been raised to its highest level after an attack on Glasgow Airport was linked to two car bombs found in London. Two men were arrested after ramming a burning car into the airport's main terminal, a day after police thwarted two attempted bombings in the capital. Police said one of the men wore a "suspect device" and the incident was being treated as terror related. Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the public to remain vigilant. "I know the British people will stand together, united and resolute," he added. More here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6257606.stm Not good... Raptor Posted June 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2007 UK Terror Threat Now 'Critical' Which, in all honesty, means absolutely nothing.
Guest Lottie Posted June 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2007 Well the goverment believe its something rather than nothing.... From MI5 website: Following recent terrorist incidents, the UK threat level has been increased to CRITICAL. This means that a terrorist attack is expected imminently and indicates an extremely high level of threat. http://www.mi5.gov.uk/output/Page45.html
bLu3 de 3n3rgy Posted June 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2007 Yeah, it suggests that they know some very specific information to put warnings to that level. Only once in the last 5 years has it been at this level...or at least that's what they are saying on sky news...

BrucePrime Posted July 1, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 1, 2007 Great i have to fly into London in a couple of weeks, it does make you think twice about going when the terror alert is so high, The goal of terrorism is to invoke terror. The best way to counter that is to go about things as if nothing was going on. As much as I loathe to say it, let the government worry about it. Lord Umbarger Posted July 1, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2007 (edited) When they first came out with the Color Coded Treat Levels here inthe Staes, I remember thinking that it could be handy. In the long run, they never came out with any specific information as to what to do when the threat level is "X". It would've made sence if they would've said "Hey, when the level is red, stay home, when the level is green, nothing is wrong and if it ever hits yellow take an umbrella with you, change your socks and empty the kitty litter". All I can figure is that it means something very specific to certain agencies of the Government and they have certain specific protocals to follow under each color. Of course, if that is the case, why do I need to know the colors? Edited July 1, 2007 by Lord Umbarger

I agree with ya man, i have been in many bomb scares in my time, but this time im bringing my girlfriend from Finland and she has never experenced anything like a bomb threat/scare. so i have to watch out for her, so it means im not just taking care of myself, ive someone with me to look out for. but this is life and we must get on with it.
