BrucePrime Posted July 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Tony Blair has launched a powerful attack on 'absurd' British Islamists who have nurtured a false 'sense of grievance' that they are being oppressed by Britain and the United States. In his most outspoken remarks on Islamists, the former Prime Minister warns that Britain is in danger of losing the battle against terrorists unless mainstream society confronts the threat. 'The idea that as a Muslim in this country that you don't have the freedom to express your religion or your views, I mean you've got far more freedom in this country than you do in most Muslim countries,' Blair told Observer columnist Will Hutton, who presents the documentary. 'The reason we are finding it hard to win this battle is that we're not actually fighting it properly. We're not actually standing up to these people and saying, "It's not just your methods that are wrong, your ideas are absurd. Nobody is oppressing you. Your sense of grievance isn't justified."' GreyWeather Posted July 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Too bad he wasn't like this when he was PM. I don't think his party would have let him be like that. If he used this sudden backbone he'd have been a great PM who wouldn't be remembered for Iraq (even though he did do a lot of other great things, sadly though Iraq was not one of them - in the short term) Hopefully Tony Blair will help set muslim society straight. It's not that they're oppressed, it's that their leaders think our freedoms oppress them - gay people having rights, abortion, christmas, easter. Basically anything that isn't their tradition, is opressive to their leaders, who then convey it to the rest of the muslims. It's like preists telling the christians to burn the witches - or if you're catholic - the pope telling christians to burn gay people because they opress the christians. Whilst you bugger off to your new job. Well done Tony.

And I completely agree with his comments, especially compared to that idiot and simpleton Jimma Carter.

Lord Umbarger Posted July 3, 2007 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Too bad he wasn't like this when he was PM. True but, now he can say whatever he wants to. Nobody can throw him out of power. He can tell the truth or talk smack all day long now and live reprecussion free. 'The reason we are finding it hard to win this battle is that we're not actually fighting it properly. We're not actually standing up to these people and saying, "It's not just your methods that are wrong, your ideas are absurd. Nobody is oppressing you. Your sense of grievance isn't justified."'Gee, that bold font seems reminicent of the words of somebody else, maybe a UM member? Which one was it? Oh yeah! It was me! I think that maybe old Tony has been reading my posts, putting them in a British accent and using my words as his own! Copywrite infringement! Civil war is coming to Britain.I don't know about an all out civil war but, it's pretty obvious that a few things are going to have to change, in the U.K. and the U.S. as well.
