GoddessWhispers Posted July 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2007 From Times Online July 6, 2007 'Shots fired' at President Musharraf's plane Security forces have surrounded a house in Rawalpindi in Pakistan amid reports of a failed assassination attempt on the life of President Pervez Musharraf, which saw shots being fired at his plane as it took off from a military base in the city. The Pakistani military strenuously denied reports of the incident but senior security sources confirmed to Reuters and the Associated Press that there had been an unsuccessful attempt on General Musharraf’s life. “It was an unsuccessful effort by miscreants to target the president’s plane,” a senior official told AP. “They fled quickly, and our security agencies are still investigating.” And an intelligence officer, also speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters: “There was an attempt, that was missed.” The reports came amid a bloody three-day stand-off at the Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque in the capital Islamabad, where a radical cleric and hundreds of his followers were holed up after clashes with government forces. At least 19 people have been killed so far in the siege. (Continues)

The Mule Posted July 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2007 These clowns were shooting from a rooftop, visible from other rooftops, with a weapon that (according to the report I read earlier) didn't have the range to reach his plane....yes, these terrorists are CLOWNS! BrucePrime Posted July 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2007 These clowns were shooting from a rooftop, visible from other rooftops, with a weapon that (according to the report I read earlier) didn't have the range to reach his plane....yes, these terrorists are CLOWNS! Even so, where there is a will, there is a way. There are others, with the desire, and a lot more intelligence, who will try. If Musharraf dies, or is overthrown, woe be it to the world. We'll be at war with Pakistan.
Birmingham Posted July 6, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Musharraf's government falls. A pro-Islamist/Taliban government takes over. Supplys cut off to NATO troops in Afganistan. Taliban trys to regain their losses since 2001. Pakistan becomes a risk to the area. Did I mention that Pakistan has tested and built a stockpile of nuclear bombs
Lord Umbarger Posted July 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2007 The radicals in Pakistan woul dlove to get their hands on that stock pile of nukes. A government freindly to the radicals would be their second choice. If they were to get that supply, they would find a place to use it.
