How did 10,000 pyramid builders get fed ?

Image Credit: Nina Aldin Thune Located about 400m from the Sphinx, the town would have been used to house and feed the 10,000 strong army of workers tasked with constructing the pyramids. Far from living in slave-like conditions however, the workers would have been well looked after during their time there. Animal bone findings and nutritional data have revealed a meat-rich diet while evidence of healed bones in worker skeletons shows that the builders would have had access to medical care.

"People were taken care of, and they were well fed when they were down there working, so there would have been an attractiveness to that," said researcher Richard Redding. "They probably got a much better diet than they got in their village."
