'World's longest snake' caught in Malaysia

Pythons have been known to grow to enormous sizes. Image Credit: Tim Vickers The huge reptile, which surprised workers when it turned up at a construction site, was caught by members of Malaysia's Civil Defence Department following a call to the emergency services.

According to reports it took them 30 minutes to eventually corner and capture the snake.

While it currently isn't clear exactly how long the snake is, there are promising indications that it could be even longer than the current record holder Medusa - a captive python in Missouri.

The longest python on record, which was shot and killed in Sulawesi, Indonesia back in 1912, was reported to measure a whopping 32ft in length.
