'World's longest snake' caught in Malaysia

A massive reticulated python thought to weigh in excess of 250kg has been captured on Penang island.
The huge reptile, which surprised workers when it turned up at a construction site, was caught by members of Malaysia's Civil Defence Department following a call to the emergency services.

According to reports it took them 30 minutes to eventually corner and capture the snake.

While it currently isn't clear exactly how long the snake is, there are promising indications that it could be even longer than the current record holder Medusa - a captive python in Missouri.

The longest python on record, which was shot and killed in Sulawesi, Indonesia back in 1912, was reported to measure a whopping 32ft in length.

'Longest-ever' captured python dies in Malaysia 11 April 2016 A giant python found on a Malaysian building site, that may be the longest ever caught, has died, officials say. The estimated eight-metre-long (26ft) snake was spotted Thursday under a fallen tree on the island of Penang. It died on Sunday after laying eggs, Herme Herisyam, operations chief for Penang's Civil Defence Department's southwest district told the BBC. ` bbc link ~ freakishly hot weather and the stress probably did her in ... ~

Hopefully they didn't kill it. A snake that size alive is worth millions and could feed their entire village forever. Eating it invariably kills it. Unless you mean have it sold into captivity and they use the money to buy food. (Oh, and not forever, of course )

I hope they didnt kill it something this big is very old, Yeah, some of the conversations I've had with people knowledgeable about snakes is quite convinced that old age is part of the reason it came to be out in the open ~ I hope her eggs were fertilized Most improbable according to the 'experts' ... a mate of compatible size would be most rare ~ ~
