MH370 crash was deliberate, experts claim

An investigation by an Australian TV news program has suggested that the pilot crashed the plane on purpose.
Exactly what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 after it took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8, 2014 still remains one of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history.

Now a new investigation in to the plane's disappearance for TV show '60 Minutes' has put forward the controversial suggestion that the pilot may have crashed deliberately as part of a murder-suicide bid.

"[Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah] was killing himself; unfortunately, he was killing everybody else on board, and he did it deliberately," said Canadian Air crash investigator Larry Vance.

To reach this conclusion, experts reconstructed the plane's flight plan based on military radar data and revealed that the pilot had seemingly flown a specific path designed to deliberately avoid detection.
He had also made the unusual decision to dip the plane's wing over his hometown of Penang.

The researchers concluded that Captain Shah had been in control of the plane the entire time - even during its final descent in to the sea - and that it may have flown 115 miles further than anticipated.

"They are very compelling," aviation analyst Henry Harteveldt said of the claims.

"What I find very compelling is the hypothesis that the pilot did this deliberately, and did one of the most heinous acts in modern commercial aviation."

As things stand however, this idea remains unproven and the plane's disappearance is still unsolved.

Just to further elaborate on RG's points, the Titanic was built for the sea, a 777 is not and is much smaller and much more liable to break up into tiny little pieces if not landed properly. ~

"Exactly what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (...) still remains one of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history." The 'journalist' who wrote this doesn't understanding what 'enduring' means. I'm fairly certain that it is literally the LEAST enduring plane mystery at the moment.

I need to reiterate that the pilot didnt have the knowledge to disable the transponder - https://www.cnbc.com/2014/03/17/disabling-mh370-transponder-would-require-expert-ex-iata-chief.html

Hmm.. interesting.. thanks for that @RabidMongoose.  However, is the transponder actually an issue ? It only works if you are in range of a radar system designed to interrogate it ?  If the plane descended to below "radar coverage", and flew on a path that took it out of radar coverage, then... who would be the wiser as to its position ?

Weeeeell... don't be TOO quick to stand Astra. If you read the Wikipedia article on the search for Titanic, it is fascinating. It took 60 years from the sinking, to having the technology to discover it. (and it was AMAZING how - in retrospect - there where so many "near misses" just a few years prior to its eventual discovery).  Who knows what technology we will have in the next 10 years, let along another 60 ?

The plane was never located because the plane never crashed and is in use today to smuggle drugs. The proof for that comment is in the two recent and separate aircraft UFO reports by numerous U.S. civil aircraft. You can see one of the actual videos right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmblwXHgxcs. Other full length videos of these incidents including Oakland-Seattle Center discussions about what to do are also on Youtube. Why did the MH370 pilot ascend to an altitude far higher than assigned? The answer is because he had to incapacitate (and eventually kill) the passengers by decompress... [More]

this would have to go down as being one of the best 'conspiracy theories' that I have read in a very long time.

What other scenarios might have knocked out the transponder? Is it self contained or could something like a blowout of part of the plane cut off the signal? I keep thinking of that (was it?) Hawaiian Air flight where a side wall blew out and sucked a steward out with it and the sheer skill and luck that got it landed by the pilot anyway. Probably as important as it is it is self contained but idk and wondered that if anyone actually really knows.

As I've remarked before, there are known instances of fires in the electronics bay below the cockpit on 777s, and if that had happened here it could well have knocked out the radio and transponders, lost onboard electrical power, then smoke filling the cockpit could have taken out the pilots, and then probably spread into the cabin. If the plane had been on autopilot (as it would be) it would probably have still flown on until either the fire caused catastrophic failure or it just ran out of fuel.

so he MIGHT have turned back to return to his start base and passed out and just kept flying on to oblivion in this scenario? I think this makes more sense.
