Authorities have determined what happened to a cargo vessel recently found drifting with no cargo or crew.
Known as the Sam Rataulangi PB 1600, the ship was discovered earlier this week by fisherman in the Gulf of Martaban around seven miles from the coast of the city of Yangon.

When it was first found, it was unclear exactly what had happened to its crew.

An investigation later revealed that a tugboat named Independence had been towing the Sam Rataulangi to a ship-breaking plant in Bangladesh when the two vessels ran in to bad weather.
As the conditions worsened, the towing cable snapped, leading the tugboat crew to make the decision to abandon the Sam Rataulangi entirely somewhere south of the Yangon River.

It eventually ended up running aground after being carried off by the current.

If it was still the 90's, we've been all over that badboy with a rave.

You would think somebody would get on a radio and warn about a large craft adrift.....

Not something you want drifting in the shipping lanes.  I can understand them cutting it loose in a storm, but it should have been reported.

Glad they figured it out, otherwise the leading theory would most likely be Aliens.

And just who do you think cut the cable ...?

What do you thin What do you THINK happened to the crew of the tug ?   Jesting apart... this doesn't seem to add up. The ship must be very valuable as scrap; would the tug crew just abandon it, and not go back to attempt to recover it ?
