A new report has predicted the technologies that soldiers of the future will be equipped with on the battlefield.
According to the Department of Defense, within as little as three decades soldiers will be augmented with enhanced vision, enhanced hearing, muscle regeneration capabilities and even telepathy.

Entitled 'Cyborg Soldier 2050: Human/Machine Fusion and the Implications for the Future of the DOD', the report outlines the types of technological advancements we can expect to see.

To enable augmented vision, for example, future soldiers could be equipped with high-tech contact lenses containing screens and cameras capable of producing a type of augmented reality.

This would not only make night vision possible without a hefty pair of goggles, but also provide an analysis of the surrounding area - highlighting points of interest, enemy positions and more.
To improve performance, soldiers could also be equipped with a special optogenetic bodysuit capable of restoring and rejuvenating tired muscles whenever the need arises.

Most notable of all however is the prediction that future soldiers will be equipped with a direct neural link, enabling them to communicate using what can only be described as a form of digital telepathy.

In addition to making it possible to stay in touch with one another at all times, this link could also enable soldiers to share critical information and status updates during combat.

Suffice to say, such a squad would be a force to be reckoned with.

Contact lenses, a special optogenetic bodysuit capable of restoring and rejuvenating tired muscles, uh, where's the "cyborg" part come in? Did I miss something?

Digital Telepathy is scary. Awesome communication until you're thinking of some **** that your fellow troops are questioning your sanity

On the deluxe version, press the on switch and first thing he’ll say: “Give me your clothes, boots, and motorcycle.”

You missed where they have a radio tied directly into their brain - but yeah, contact lenses and special suits do not a cyborg make. I want that suit, sounds like a wearable massage chair. Or even better - I could just get a massage chair.

My bad. I just thought that was part of the suit, but I was expecting cybernetic limbs or something crazy like that.

Looking at the speed of development of the devices made by e.g. Boston Dynamics over the past few years, I think it will happen much much earlier than 2050.

So when does the Defense Department reveal its CRISPR genetic modifications?  They are bound to be looking into some super-warrior genetic enhancement package.  I think they are working on it but will not reveal anything, its too controversial.   Care to place a wager that there are some super warrior fetuses already in development?
