Residents of Coita in the Mexican state of Chiapas have been reporting sightings of a large wolf-like creature.
Stories of the so-called 'werewolf', which has been described as being two meters tall and highly agile, have been circulating in the local press as well as on social media where several people have posted stories and even photographs reportedly showing footprints and claw marks left by the creature.

According to reports, the mysterious beast has been heard walking across rooftops and some residents have even fallen out over whether it should be protected or eliminated.

There have also been reports of gunshots at night, prompting a local police investigation.

One pastor has asked residents to place candles outside their homes to help calm things down.

"For the second night they do not sleep," wrote Twitter user @saulzenteno. "This time the media and reporters report shooting into the air from homes and people who hear loud wailing like howling."
But could there really be a werewolf roaming the streets of southern Mexico ?

According to psychotherapist Dulce Bonifaz, the most likely explanation is "collective hysteria" exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

"It is easier to be afraid of something you know compared to something you do not know," she said.

Bonifaz maintains that this collective panic could be projecting itself in the form of a mythical creature.

Given the current situation, this certainly seems like a reasonable possibility.

The insurance company decided that it must have been a bear. It's possible. Nobody knows for sure. The guy put up some cameras to see if anything odd showed up, but nothing ever did. He has some small outside dogs that they figured the big animal was after. We've heard stories about wild hogs, bear, big cats, the usual stuff. I've never seen or heard anything, but the next door neighbor took a picture of an elk at my parents' mailbox one day. We didn't believe him until he showed mom & dad his phone. LOL The car I was talking about had rips, scratches, it looked like something bit into it.... [More]

The papameter is a joke and has chosen several advertising gimmicks as likely to be real. Then again that is expected when the papameter is based on being irrational, illogical, avoids the evidence, and sees woo everything.

The idea of a werewolf as being real went away with Darwinism. People realized such an idea made no sense at all when they learned about evolution. At times many people believed in such creatures, but the number of believers is trivial now because science shows that no such creatures exist in the fossil record.

When did that happen?

The idea of a 'werewolf' had to come from somewhere and I thinking this might explain it in some part. https://www.livescience.com/14430-werewolf-disorder-gene-discovered-excess-hair.html

Seems to me that, as a matter of evolution of the human species, that 'xtra gene chunk' got deleted from the DNA resulting in 'unfurriness' all over.  I wonder what the correlation is between the x chromosome and the 'xtra gene chunk' and the dna of all other mammals. https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/peruvian-inca-orchid/
