This unique spaceship-inspired house designed in the 1960s proved notoriously unpopular at the time.
Designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen, this peculiar prefabricated saucer-shaped house was once seen as the future of home design - a relocatable, fiberglass pod measuring 26ft in diameter.

Sporting a row of oval-shaped windows and a front door that looked like something out of Flight of the Navigator, the unusual design never really took off, with only 100 of them actually being made.

Nowadays however, those that have survived are considered to be rare collector's pieces.

The latest example to go on sale is located in New Zealand where only 12 were ever made. (There are believed to only be around 63 of them left in existence across the whole world.)

The house, which comes complete with its original fiberglass kitchen bench, original Marimekko couches and even its original mattress, will be sold to the highest bidder at auction.

Whether or not the winner will actually live inside it however remains to be seen.

A 1960s news video showing a tour of the interior of one of the houses can be viewed below.

We have this one in Eindhoven, the Netherlands: First it was a science museum, then a restaurant, and now it's church.

There was one of these on a factory car park near Todmorden when I was a kid. I was fascinated by it! I obviously didn't dream it then.
