UM-Bot Posted January 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Photos of "moa" footprints in Fiordland and evidence elsewhere in New Zealand have reignited claims the supposedly extinct birds are still roaming the countryside. New South Wales natural science researcher Rex Gilroy said he was closing in on the colony of the presumed-extinct little scrub moa in the Urewera Ranges. Mr Gilroy, a cryptozoologist, who studies "hidden" animals _ said he had evidence of a small colony in the Ureweras. "As far as I'm concerned, they're definitely out there. Jack_of_Blades Posted January 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2008 I always have respect for Cryptozoologists who go after the less believed cryptids.
Twas Brillig Posted January 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Where the ^$#@$@#$ are the photos?? The whore who bought the photos is a self serving slime of a human. IF this is true, which of course anything is possible, the photos of the footprints should be SHARED with the rest of the world.
Undeadskeptic Posted January 14, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Its every NZer's dream of seeing a real live moa. I believe there are still 4 or 5 out there, The Fiordlands are massive. You can go for months in that place withou seeing ONE animal, its the perfect place for those few moas to keep holding on to survival. Some say the reports are silly because Moa's should have evolved, at least in a small way by now, but there is that famous Alice McKenzie Blue Moa sighting. So many sightings, a nice litttle set of evidence, it seems no reason one isn't still out there, I cant wait to see the day when one is found! Krayt12 Posted January 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2008 I find it really hard to believe that there could be 4 or 5 Moas still existing - why not more than that? Watching some programme, Man set foot in New Zealand, the Moas had never seen man before and werent exactly scared of them as their instincts didnt have a clue if man was friend or foe. Man killed off all of the Moas before they had a chance to evolve the slightest bit to change their instinct and run away or defend themselves. If Moas still exist, that would be amazing, they only died off recently - recently as in hundreds of years or so - so it's possible that somewhere there could still be some, like some people believe dinosaurs could still exist in large forests or Plesiasaurs in Loch Ness, Scottland. If the Moas are proved as existed, I wonder what else is out there...
Undeadskeptic Posted January 15, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2008 I would deny Moa theories were I not an NZer. Biased, yes. Sad, yes. True, yes.
