"Rocket man" flies solo over the English Channel

Rocketman yves Rossy made history yesterday as he flew over the English channel strapped to a jet-powered wing. The Swiss adventurer looked like cartoon hero Buzz Lightyear as he zoomed through the air at more than 100mph.

The flight took less than 10 minutes and Rossy said after landing: "So many people were with me on that flight, I want to say thank you."Everything was perfect.

I can't see the idea taking off in a very big way.

I agree with REBEL, but it had to be surreal to be traveling in the air at 124mph with body control. Grand Canyon flight should be interesting..

Just think of the possibilities eh; going to work, visiting relatives & friends, spying on neighbours err not sure how you women will get the shopping home tho...

Eh, I could see it becoming an extreme sport in the future... but it probably won't ever be practical for travel
