This is news?

Don't all carnivores (past and present) hunt in pacts?

It's not specific or exempt to any species.

Or maybe that's just mammals?

No. Not all carnavores hunt in packs, rather it be mammals or otherwise. MANY carnavores DO NOT hunt as a group or pack.

But its always been hard to say regarding the Smilodon due to the fact existing evidence hasent led us either way. New evidence though, has made the determination. Although they could still be wrong. Its always hard to say when your studying a species thats been extinct for thousands of years. :geek: Thast when the educated guess and imagination come in handy!

Tiger's for example are lone hunters. Hence the focus of the article on the old common name of the Smilodon, Sabre-toothed Tiger.
