Seems to me that there have been a number of scientific hunts for something that's "never" been taken seriously. And an intertwined mythology never hurt Greek heritage sites.

Yep, I agree that Nessie-legends are what made Loch Ness famous. I don't blame the citizens for thinking, it'd be like having a cheese sandwich without the cheese. Just between you & me, though, I think it's be a more accurate comparison to say, "It'd be like making an 'egg cream' without using an egg or cream..." ~scratches head in thought~ hey, wait a minute... read the history & recipe--New York Egg Cream
