Pioneering physicist Nikola Tesla predicted the concept of SMS text messages as far back as 1909.
He was correct albeit the better part of century too soon, Tesla predicted that we would all one day communicate with one another with text messages sent through portable devices. His comments were published in Popular Mechanics magazine in 1909.
Texting may be a boon in today's world, but the concept was visualised more than a century ago. And, it was a pioneering American physicist who had predicted about the portable messaging service, like the SMS, via a hand-held device in the 'Popular Mechanics' magazine in 1909, its Technology Editor Seth Porges has claimed.

Someone should make a movie about him! I think they made a documentary about him at least one time that I know of, just can't remember what it was called.

Few people are marking each millennium. The last one was marked by Leonardo and .. Tesla. It's almost as if both were lifted from the future and send to the period they were known in. Technically speaking, neither one fitted well with their own time. Leonardo had to leave Italy to go hide in France, Tesla moved from the Serbo-Croate region to come to the US, was attacked by (mainly) Edison but also by many others. Despite several patents, he died broke and the papers which could have at least made his family rich (or at least well) were stolen by the US government never to be seen in public ag... [More]

Well he is one of the main characters in "The Prestige", which isn't the greatest movie of all time, but is prety fun and does somehow describe what one could expect from a person like Tesla, bold and sheer madness/genius.

It's true that some people don't fit into their time, but if we were all on the same level, we'd probably never get anywhere.
