A team is leading the hunt for a mysterious creature said to be living in England's Lake Windermere.
Nicknamed "Bow-Nessie" the alleged creature has been the subject of stories and sightings for years. Having scanned the lake with sonar the team picked up one 14 metre long disturbance but was unable to determine what caused it.
Monster hunters have used sonar equipment for the first time to search for a mysterious creature reportedly living in England's largest lake. Sky News filmed out on Windermere with the team looking for proof that the beast exists.

I have NEVER heard of a "Windermere" monster. And neither has anyone else. The entire premise of this thread is bull manure. meow purr Well it seems some people have - http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/8386548.Bownessie_hunters_begin_their_search_today/?ref=rss

Well it seems some people have - http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/8386548.Bownessie_hunters_begin_their_search_today/?ref=rss Do you REALLY suggest that article as a credible source ? Firstly, might I suggest that a Bowness hotelier might just have a TEENY ulterior motive for raising interest in Lake Windereme ? (Hint: Bowness is a small town on the shores of Lake ... you've got it.. Windermere) Secondly, the article makes refference to a "£300,000 yacht, with sonar"... Oh REALLY ? Curiously, the article neglected to mention the NAME of the Yacht, and instead showed the Hotelier at... [More]

Sounds like a gimmick to attract more tourists.

The only real proof for all these cryptos is catching one. All the blurry pics and great stories won't do it, ever. We want 'meat', not fantasy, legends, daydreams, lies and whatnot. That goes for other monsters, ghosts and aliens aswell. Sorry, but stories and blurry pictures wont do it.

Last time I checked Loch Ness wasn't in England. They were referring to Lake Windermere in the article, not Loch Ness. LOL, ok. So there is still hope.... That goes for other monsters, ghosts and aliens aswell. Sorry, but stories and blurry pictures wont do it. That's what I said....

i do not live in windemere but have visited it - and from my experience local people do seem aware of these claims. But such claims are not a recent development as legends of a strange creature allegedly living in or around windemere go back many years! One such legend refers to a creature dubbed the tzzie-wizzie of Windermere. A boatman first described this creature in his stories during the early 1900s, claiming that it had the body of a hedgehog, the tail of a squirrel and bee-like wings. Sightings of the Tizzie-Wizzie have been reported since. While others have claimed down the years that ... [More]

I was going to make an in-law joke but decided not to.

If I had known of such claims when I visited Lake Windermere two months ago, I certainly would have investigated.

I remember seeing this on Sky News, watching over here in South Africa, and one of the people said something like this I remember: "we really hope that we can make this as famous as nessie, and attract more visitors to the lake" My dad immediately burst into laughter, stating how they are just going to inflame the whole situation and make such a load of bull about it..
