Prehistoric man may have fed on a balanced diet consisting of both meat and bread.
Early man has been long associated with the idea of cavemen sitting around munching on haunches of meat however new findings suggest that our ancestors may have been as much bakers as they were butchers.
The prehistoric hunters did not only rely on animals for their diet and also dined on processed plant-based foods, according to a new study.

Huh, I was under the impression they did include cereals into their diet, as well as other fruits, nuts, and edible greenery. yea ?

this may be why they were called hunter gatherers. even neanderthal would have gathered fruits and other edibles when they were able to.

They had to have some sort of food that would soak up the excess alcohol in their stomach .... Oh yes didn't you know , cave men all drank grog too . After stumbling onto the process of fermentation , firstly by natural causes and then by duplication they were able to experience the relaxing effects of intoxication , hence the need for bread , after a night on the grog their head and legs were way too fragile to go chasing through the jungle after wild animals .... Hence the need for bread , well it sounds reasonable to me .... What do you think ?

I too, thought that they gathered fruit and nuts, to supplement their meals. Maybe they started using the flat bread to round out their meals and make the meat last longer.

Caveman hardtack, easy to carry and lasts forever as long as it stays dry. Tastes like crap, but it will give you the energy you need to keep scratching out a meager existence when other sources of food run low and you are faced with a life of perpetual camping.

Our ability to eat almost anything is one of the reasons we've survived 'til today.

it's not a surprise to me that they ate more than just meat. of course they would have to at least have had some fruits or scurvy would have taken hold and they would have had no teeth to gnaw the meat!

Hunter gathers are not the same as bakers! Fruits, greens, and nuts are not the same as bread. Hell bread is nothing but ground up bird seed. Would you grab some grass seeds and grind them up to make a flour to eat? That is the news.
