news icon rThe Catholic Church has officially declared the oil-seeping and "bleeding" artefacts at the Inala Vietnamese Catholic Centre as fakes.Brisbane Archbishop John Bathersby yesterday apologised to all those deceived. He released an investigative report and issued instructions for the principal statue and other objects to be removed from public veneration.

Archbishop Bathersby said he had asked for a full accounting of any money received "during the time of these pilgrimages".

Yup. Well, what did they expect? That it was ACTUALLY WEEPING!?

Oh wait, it's church people we're talking about.

I could have told them that they were fake and saved them a whole lotta time and trouble.

Unfortunately it seems that they are only referring to one particular case in vietnam.

If it is fake, then what substance was "weeping" out of the Virgin Mary?!?!

"The principal statue was X-rayed and the oil samples subjected to analysis by gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy," he said. "The red substance found on some of the artefacts was shown not to be blood."

All the article says is that it's not blood, well what the hell is it? They've given us examples of tests they've done, then where the hell are the results!??!

Unless this is another conspiracy the Church has created, so that these people would not recieve money from tourists. Probably, embarrased, feeling as though it was some sort of Freak Show so people would believe if they saw it rather than have faith in the first place...blink.gif

I'm gonna look for these results, myself.

Archbishop Bathersby ordered the Inala artefacts be removed from display.

what a coincidence...

A statue of the Virgin Mary - the subject of scientific tests after apparently "weeping" an oil-like substance - has been taken off display at a Perth outer suburban church.

In September, scientists from two Perth universities tested the statue but were unable to find the source of its reported weeping. Murdoch University chemist Doug Clarke said he believed the "tears" were fake but could find no proof that the Madonna had not wept.

He said the tears were a vegetable oil, likely olive, scented with a rose-oil mix. Curtin University X-ray expert Rob Hart found no cavity or sign of fluid inside the statue, although he reported an unexplained mass at the statue's feet.

The Archbishop is now examining the findings of the tests. He said yesterday the statue has been withdrawn from display in the interim.

Why are they removing both fake and real weeping statues? What's the Church up too? Sounds like a conspiracy to me?

There are actually real weeping statues...for those of you who don't believe. Think of it like Gothika..."Don't trust those who think you are crazy"

That's my theory.

It's "rose scented oil" that was most likely brought commercially. Very easy for someone to apply the oil once a day when the church is closed at night, and reap the rewards of having a popular, media-watched church.

Each display is displayed in its own case, right? Isn't Churches open 24/7? Then there would always be visitors in the vicinity who would easily see the culprit applying these oils. It would be a tough task for frauds to create.

I'm sure in the midst of most of these crowds there are a few scientists, conducting their own analysis by observations.

I've never seen a church open 24/7. In England and here they usually open early morning and close late night.

And you don't think the man operating the church would have access to inside the glass case?

Most Churches I know of are only open during a set number of hours. I wouldn't be surpised if someone working in the church was behind the acts.

I totally agree with you about that they should remove the fakes ones and leave the real one alone

the second thing is much of the blame is the Vatican's fault because the Vatican let them do it because the vatican is the head church of all the churches.

And the pope does'nt believe in any of that that's his problem

All of the so called weeping and bleeding statues are fake. Why would God want a flock of people gawking and bowing to a leaking piece of plaster? :w00t: It's the dark lord Satan who is behind the trickery

I really don't think that is something nice to say. And I'm speaking for church goers in and out of these forums that would probably find that comment down right rude. For being a moderator I would expect you to respect others better than this. Not all church people are the same.

I believe in miracles-if you don't then you have little faith in life. I don't believe in weeping statues but I believe in God and miracles and I have faith that anything is possible.

Have you ever been fake about something or to someone?? Because we all have. If I said a comment like that about Pageans I would have been chewed up over it. So, I really feel you are no different than the rest of us.

Try and consider others feelings on here!! :tu:
