Researchers in San Diego are developing a new brain interface for use with mobile phones.
The new system could allow users to dial a number simply by thinking it, participants in a trial run reported that it was almost 100% accurate. How practical such a device would be remains to be seen but it is being hailed as particularly helpful to people with disabilities.
A new brain interface is being explored by researchers in San Diego, California, which could enable you to make calls just by thinking of the number. Participants who used it found it to be almost 100% accurate, though some people achieve higher accuracy than others.

I for one, am most certainly not going to memorize my entire phone book. Unless they develope it so that you have to think of the persons name, at which point i would ask everyone who they really don't want to call right now, which they will hence thinking about it. HA! Consider what such a device could do to make life easier for blind people? Or for people who are im-mobile? Or for people who -- {you fill this space}

Got to agree with Crimson. I'm not letting anyone in my thoughts. They might not like what they find anyway.

What if you're thinking of someone else while doing dirty deeds with your spouse? Just say'n... can you imagine your cell phone calling someone else in "midstride?" Or how about if you leave your phone on while sleeping? That could get someone into trouble... not me though, 'cuz I don't do such things. Or imagine if you're a student and sitting in the middle of math class... what kind of phone bill would you rack up?!!

I knew the cell phone addiction was leading somewhere. How long before data can be input as well? I agree it would be awesome for many people. Just leave my brain alone, thanks.

Too funny! Just days ago I was discussing this very same technology with my son. He's been thru no less than 8 smart phones in 2 years (can you say KLUTZ?), where can I sign him up?
