Pyramids built by leadership, not slavery

Author Arthur Carmazzi contends that good leadership skills as oppose to slavery built the Pyramids.
For years the idea that the people who built the Pyramids of Egypt were slaves has been a part of many construction theories. "Various researches have already shown that the labourers were not slaves. It was more about getting work done through leadership skills, rather than by slavery and exploitation," Carmazzi has said.
It was the leadership skills of the rulers and not the bondage of slavery that motivated the labourers to toil hard in building the ancient Egyptian pyramids, claims a top leadership guru. Indonesia-based Arthur Carmazzi will soon come out with a book arguing how the leadership skills of the rulers of Egypt were responsible for building the giant structures regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Author Arthur Carmazzi contends that good leadership skills as oppose to slavery built the Pyramids. There's really not much evidence that slavery was extremely pervasive in ancient Egypt but there's not a lot of evidence of anything. Certainly slavery was an institution as shown in the Palermo Stone which is normally taken to be legitimate history and as evi- denced by the Narmer Palette which suggests enemy combatants were executed. There just don't seem to be nearly sufficiently large numbers of slaves and it's simple common sense that any slaves would get the worst possible jobs. Hard work... [More]

Saru's topic is one that always bears repeating. The truth behind slaves and Egyptian pyramids might be well understood by those who've committed themselves to studying the history, but it's clear to me, at least, that it's still not well understood among average people. You see it here at UM quite frequently, as well as on other internet forums. In my interactions with people in our Egyptian galleries at the museum, I often encounter people who believe slaves built the pyramids. In some cases these people have in mind a general sense of slaves, while many others picture Israelite slaves in pa... [More]

Damn, you are right: it's the bloody Mexicans who had the pyramids built in Egypt !! .......sigh............... This is true. Excavators have uncovered many green cards from the ruins of the workmen's village.

This is true. Excavators have uncovered many green cards from the ruins of the workmen's village. But they do not look anything like those aliens Bolman posted... How can that be, I ask you?? They must have disguised themselves, right? ------ I will bet you will have met many of those lunat.. eh.. people who tried to convince you the pyramids were built by, or under the leadership of "aliens". And then keep a straight face, and explain to them, patiently, that they might be somewhat misguided by what they read.

But as to your other comment...oh my, yes. Yes, I've met many of them. I think they know their opinion is a bit, well, silly even to consider because rarely do they come right out and say, "I think it was aliens!" No, usually at first they phrase it a bit more subtl... Even if the second post seems to be right, I have to agree with kmt: This cannot be repeated frequently enough as well as the fact that slavery was pretty uncommon in Egypt until the Greek takeover (no matter what a certain book seez).

The first recorded labor strike in history was found while building the Great Pyramid. Slaves hardly had the opportunity to strike on the job. Paid laborers built the pyramids and tombs in the Valley of the Kings. And of course, the artisans who magnificently decorated the resting places of the pharoahs.

It's interesting you say this since I believe it as well and can't come up with any evidence that would be widely known or interpreted the same as I interpret it. It probably wasn't so much a true strike as it was some men banding together to stop operations. 604c. that he may cause those doub... [More]

There are of course other clues that pyramid building was almost one big party rather than an occasion to break out the whips and chains. It's not only the simple things like the total lack of any jobs of the pyramid buil- ders associated with back breaking work like "Overseer of Stone Draggers" or "Overseer of Whip Makers" but there is actually evidence that this work entailed feasts and celebrations. 1944a. + 2 (Nt. 777). The time of inundation comes, the wȝg-festival comes, to the uplands, it comes as Osiris. We know that this festival was held at Giza and that the building season started ... [More]
