Jaws pays a visit to British coast

A fisherman has reported having his boat rammed and almost toppled over by a giant man-eating shark.
The 60-year-old who had fished the area his whole life believes the shark was an oceanic white tip, a species notorious for feeding frenzies around shipwrecks. Experts however remain skeptical and have claimed that even if such a shark had made its way to the British coast the waters are so cold that the shark would be practically comatose.
In a scene reminiscent of the film Jaws, a fisherman out on the water has said he was nearly toppled from his wooden boat by the man eating shark. The angler was out looking for mackerel a mile off the coast of St Ives, when suddenly his boat was rammed by the 7ft fish.

I find it a little fishy (no pun intended) that the Oceanic White Tip was featured quite heavily in the media due to the shark attacks in Egypt and then we have a "sighting" off of Cornwall as normally it is the Great White that is "sighted" off the south coast.

7ft is NOT A NONSTER

Not exactly a "giant" either.

When I first saw this I was imagining a 15-20 ft monster, but 7 ft? I thought the same thing.

Maybe it was a red herring.

SO how do they know it's a "man-eater"? Was it chewing on a man when it attacked the boat? Or did it have man-sandwiches in its lunch-box?

I do not know the size of the boat this guy was in but if a 7ft. shark of anykind can nearly capsize it he better get another boat. A 7ft shark is actually kind of small. Now, if it had been a 15ft or larger Great White then maybe I could believe it could capsize a small boat. I am not so sure about the scientist's opinion of a White Tip Shark being comatose in those water temperatures but a Great White can handle very cold waters. It is not a cold blooded fish like many sharks. The White Tip is largely known for being found in tropical areas and was a man-eater when ships were sunk in WWII. T... [More]

Maybe it was a red herring. The White Tip shark is a notorios maneater. They were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of sailors after their ships were sunk in WWII. It is documented and the shark will eat a man in a heart beat. Do a little research and you will find it is probably in the top 5 of the most dangerous sharks known to man.

I wonder if every time the fisherman tells the tale the fish gets bigger...
