Paul the Octopus' predictions were so popular last year that the search is now on for his replacement.
The multi-limbed celebrity became famous during the 2010 World Cup after predicting the results of Germany's matches but sadly died in October. Now the hunt is on for a new psychic octopus to fill Paul's shoes - all eight of them.
Each of the country’s eight aquariums will have one of its octopuses predict the competition’s results by picking a mussel to eat from one of two containers with the competing countries’ flags, just as Paul did. The cephalopod with the most correct predictions will be officially deemed Paul’s successor, but that lucky octopus will have big shoes to feel.

I think they may have found one - The German aquarium that gave the world Paul the fortune-telling octopus at the 2010 World Cup has unveiled eight successors, including Ophira, in time for this summer's women's tournament. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/8597473/Fifa-Womens-World-Cup-2011-Meet-Ophira-the-successor-to-Paul-the-octopus.html

That's so neat. Octopus' are very intelligent creatures. The octopus which was at the Vancouver Aquarium used to leave his home, when they fed the fish. He would go and eat everything (not the fish on display mind you,)and then return to his cylinder home. I never saw him doing it though. I was always busy looking at the sharks. So it was very interesting to read about that Octopus. It sounds familiar so I must have heard about it on TV sometime.
