NASA sting operation retrieves lunar dust

NASA launches elaborate mission to recover moon rock the size of a grain of rice from a grandmother.
The wife of a space-engineer whose husband received a piece of lunar dust from Neil Armstrong himself in the 70s was recently the subject of a sting operation by NASA. The 73-year-old grandmother was attempting to sell the tiny rock to raise money for her sick son. Over the years NASA has conducted several operations to recover moon dust and rock collected during the Apollo moon landings, some of which had ended up being stolen and traded on the black market.
But at the end of the sting operation, agents were left holding a speck of lunar dust smaller than a grain of rice and a 73-year-old suspect who was terrified by armed officials.

NASA is such a joke!!!!! They need to be focused on getting to the moon (again), Mars and other things with space, instead of worring about and obtaining moon rocks from the average joe!!!!! I quess they realize they are a joke and have nothing better to do.

This was absolutely ridiculous, just more control freak crap. If Nasa wanted this grain they would have kept it in the 1st place. This makes Nasa look like the 40 years in low orbit bureaucrat morons they are.

A sting operation? How much did a sting operation cost??? Probably would have been far cheaper to just buy it from her!

Honestly, i do not believe the government story that they consider it government property and that is why they took it. I think mabey there is something they do not want us to know about these moon rocks and if they got into the wrong hands, we the public may find out about it.

I am willing to bet there is MUCH more to this than meets the eye.

Well this will feed those who think we never went to the Moon NASA just needs to go back and get more of it and leave people alone.

You already know it is, why would they waste their time on something the size of rice unless there is something more to it? A. either its not really from the actual moon, hence if someone was to take it and get it checked it would turn out false. B. It really an egg of some type that could grow (ala A18) who knows, the govt and Nasa will never tell you the truth anyways

I am willing to bet there is MUCH more to this than meets the eye. I'm willing to bet you'right... I trust the Telegraph as much as I trust the National Enquirer. There's an article I've never seen anywhere else, and which provides no names, save that of the alleged "victim". Titles ("The inspector genral", "spokesman for the Inspector general")surround this surreptitious tale of intrigue and espionage. And a narrative about a pile of armed agents looking for a moon rock fragment that's utterly insignificant, and in some acrylic mass, from somebody's evil grandma? Honestly! One wonders who the...
