Spectactors were amazed to witness an octopus heave itself out of the water and go for a walk.
Impressive footage has surfaced showing an Eastern Pacific Red Octopus going for a stroll in front of a crowd of spectators at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve near San Francisco. The creature decided it had done enough exploring after about two minutes and slithered back in to the water.
The octopus was spotted at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, about 20 miles south of San Francisco. Is this the picture of primordial life emerging from the seas and learning to live on terra firma?
I love all these comments about how common this is. Not everyone lives along the coast. I was born and brought up in a seaside town but I've never once seen a live Octopus. This video was highly interesting to me.
I was born and brought up in a seaside town but I've never once seen a live Octopus. This video was highly interesting to me. I'm with ya here!! I've lived on the coast near the coast most of my life and have yet to see an octopus, let alone one walking on land.... I had no clue!!! One of the many reasons I love UM!!! Always something interesting here, I always learn something and usually no one makes fun of the lack of knowledge.
I wonder how much wildlife they stepped on and killed, to make this video of an octopus sliding into home.... Can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs. Of course, omelet in this case is a video of a relatively common occurrence and eggs being sea life.
