An ancient document has revealed that the baby Jesus may have been visited by crowds of wise men.
While the traditional view of the three wise men travelling to Bethlehem to bring gifts for the baby Jesus has been a staple of the nativity story for years, a new intepretation of an ancient document suggests that there may have more than three - a lot more in fact. "Revelation of the Magi", a document stored in the Vatican, appears to describe how several dozen wise men travelled to visit Jesus from a faraway land believed to be China.
They are one of the most recognised symbols of the festive season, emulated in nativity plays all over the world and whose imagery adorns the front of millions of Christmas cards.
