New evidence has been found suggesting the allegedly extinct Javan tiger might not have been wiped out.
The tiger was declared extinct in 1994 yet the discovery of paw prints and droppings in Meru Betiri National Park in East Java, Indonesia has prompted a new search for the animals. Camera traps have been set up at key locations to try and catch a glimpse of a live tiger still prowling the area. "I am optimistic that the Javan tiger still lives in Meru Betiri," said head of the park, Bambang Darmadja.
