Babylonia Aivaz is to marry an 107-year-old warehouse due to be demolished in Seattle.
The activist has been part of a 200 strong movement to protest the building's destruction which is aimed at making way for the construction of a new luxury apartment complex. During the campaign Aivaz discovered that she had fallen in love with the building and is now looking to marry it in a ceremony due to take place today before the demolition goes ahead. "I'm doing this to show the building how much I love it, how much I love community space and how much I love this neighborhood," she said.
Babylonia Aivaz's love knows no bounds - that's why she will marry a 107-year-old doomed warehouse in Seattle tomorrow. The Seattle activist has planned the weekend ceremony because she is head over heels in love, and she also wants to make a statement against the warehouse’s slated demolition.

So, when they tear down the building will that make her a widow? Providing no-one laughs aloud, not that anyone will hear... perhaps we should hold a kind of "Service" here on Um for the poor woman.... maybe she'll claim compensation and give us all a few quid....?

I really hope they don't plan on having any children. Giving birth to a small building would be kinda painful don't ya think?

If this woman can marry a building, why can't I marry a woman?

I wonder what she can do with this building in night time

I understand that some people fall in love with inanimate objects and I can't really understand that, but I feel like this is making a mockery of marriage. It is such a shame that in many parts of the world, two people of the same gender who are deeply in love can't legally marry, yet this woman can marry a building.

I highly doubt that she's "in love" with the building. She's part of the Occupy Seattle movement and the OWSea movement took over this warehouse many weeks ago. This is more of a political statment than a declaration of love. I've seen this building, it's an eye sore. The neighborhood has been undergoing massive revitalization for years... and I say tear it down! I've been looking for a damn condo in that neighborhood for 2 years! LOL.
