Google is looking towards a future where cars can run us about without even needing a driver.
The internet giant has been lobbying in Nevada to allow the testing of driverless cars on the highways, while the efforts proved a success the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles requires a payment of up to $10 million for the privilege. "We want to improve people's lives by making driving safer, more enjoyable, and more efficient," said a Google spokesperson. "Over 1.2 million people are killed in traffic worldwide every year, and we think autonomous technology can significantly reduce that number."
"Nevada already legalized driverless cars back in June of last year, but there was no a legal framework in place for companies to test their vehicles."
