A leaked document suggests Russia is planning on embarking on a manned mission to the Moon.

The document details plans to "conduct a demonstrative manned circumlunar test flight with the subsequent landing of cosmonauts on [the Moonís] surface and their return to Earth" with a deadline of 2030. In the early days of the original space race, Russia look set to beat the US to the Moon when it became the first nation to put a man in space and to launch a satellite. Now, several decades on, can Russia finally fullfil its ambition to put a man on the Moon ?

"Plans to send cosmonauts to the Moon could help revive Russiaís space programme after a troubled period."

Right 'and then' because Barack totally just stole an election right? Pay attention or stay out of the joke bub. On topic: Russia is currently ahead in the 'space race' (which in my view has never ended), as they have an orbital delivery vehicle, while the US does not...

Encouraging news, although 2030 seems a pretty generous timescale. Perhaps they'll be able to achieve a landing on the Moon to celebrate Comrade Putin's 30th Glorious Year in power. I can just imagine the conversation between he and Tsar Barack the First. Now that's funny.
