Mobile owners' bizarre insurance claims

Insurance companies have had to deal with some rather ridiculous claims from mobile phone owners.

In one case a farmer claimed that he'd lost his phone up the rear of a cow because he was attempting to use the device as a makeshift light source while calving. In another incident a woman from Nottingham managed to bake her Nokia 6303i in to a sponge cake, presumably after she had dropped it in to the mixture.

Other strange claims include the case of a woman whose phone was literally snatched from her hand by a seagull and an incident in which a couple dropped their phone in to the sea while attempting to photograph themselves recreating a famous scene from the movie Titanic.

"Careless members of the British public have broken their mobile phones by baking them in a cake, inserting them into a cow and dropping them over the edge of a ship while recreating scenes from Titanic, it has emerged."

Were the aforementioned claims upheld ? If not , then why pay insurance ?

Were the aforementioned claims upheld ? If not , then why pay insurance ? Yes, all 3 of mine were, insurance saved my *** each time. Still cost $50 to replace the smart phones, but it was money well spent in the long run. Although, after I started using an OtterBox, my phone has lasted a long time.
