UM-Bot Posted February 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Submitted by Stellar: A huge, frozen sea lies just below the surface of Mars, a team of European scientists has announced. Their assessment is based on pictures of the planet's near-equatorial Elysium region that show plated and rutted features across an area 800 by 900km. The team think a catastrophic event flooded the landscape five million years ago and then froze out. They tell a forthcoming edition of Nature magazine that sediments covered the ice, locking it in place. ROGER Posted February 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2005 THE EXISTENCE OF WATER IN QUANTITY MAY HELP TO GENERATE MORE INTEREST IN GETTING TO MARS SOONER. I find it disappointing that I will not see this in my life time. Yes we still have a lot to learn about living in Space and other places, but I believe we must study the environments on sight to make any headway in space research. It will be dangerous, but nothing worth doing ever is.

LunarWarrior Posted February 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2005 But are they sure it is H2O? I'm happy they found some liquid, wonder what lays beneath it. Possibly something frozen inside it.
