And some people say the devil is behind such works - whether the authors are aware of this or not, according to a new USA TODAY/Gallup survey.

I have much more than half a brain... in fact I happen to have a 3.8 GPA, and A student in every class including advanced Calculus, and a researcher into the ancient world. Obvious ly you who resort to such petty vocabulary and such simple facts must ba as "small brained" as I am!!

I DO believe that the Devil is behind the newest Anti-religious books and movies. I believe that it is his way to lead the masses from God. It was predicted in the Bible, adn now those scriptures are being fullfilled. Just my thoughts though!!

Can you explain how I disrespected your religion? All I did was laugh at the hilarious statements. I don't appreciate you Christians calling everything that challenges or questions your religion 'the devil'. It's just a way to keep followers of your religion. Even a half-brained person knows that sometime along the line, people will begin abandon this unneccessary religion. A good way to put a dent into that would be to say "The devil will try to lead the masses away from Christianity, do not fall into the devils clutch or you will go to hell forever!". It's just another classic scare tactic which Christianity is well known for. As much as you would like to believe that the 'devil' is responsible for this, it is not.

I AM thinking logically when I worship my God. Most humans require facts to support their thoughts. We can sit here for hours, even years stating all the FACTS for and against God, either way it will get us nowhere. The fact is that Religion presents an idea that requires one to be willing to accept that there is someone else in control, which MOST people are not willing to do.

Science is just as much theory as religion, and it is just as confused about the origin of the world. Let me present you with an offer:

If you come up with hard FACTS that prove the non-existance of God, or any higher power, then I will examine those facts and possibly change my stance. Until that time, I will remain a faithful christian.

To those of you who may say that my logic is clouded by religion, just take a look at my other posts. I am open-minded to other religions and theories.

As for the "stereotypical" view of christians:

Not all christians blame things on the devil. Most christians will say that sex on TV and such is simply a creation of Man's diminishing morality.

ehm NO...science is based on facts. Science does not mock me with tales of the Earth, created in six or whatever days. Science does not suggest me to execute fags, as Christianity does.

The existence of God or the thing that set off the universe has nothing to do with christian God whatsoever. If you are a christian, you have to stick with your holy book a.k.a Bible. You can't become progressive and accept only those things from the book, which you like the best, thus keeping up with science explanations. If you are a true christian, you can't think that inquisition was bad, cuz it was just the expression of Bible. And it's just some of the absurdness of your religion.

that last reply has really made me think. You have a great point. I never thought about those things. I am sincerely sorry for starting this argument in the first place.

As I said, I guess I was blinded by what the church tells me. I will still practice my religion, but I guess I will just refrain from posting if I don't have the knowledge to support my theories.

This Da Vinci stuff is driving me crazy. I am not religious or that kind of spiritual thing, but it amazes me to hear some people talking about Da vinci code like if it was an historical book. Damn, people just hang to anything to try to make intelligent discussions. What's next? Now that we are flying outer space, let-s try to justify Luke Skywalker's existence. Or let's try to find Adam & Eve's Diary.

I will watch this movie only to try to debunk this sh** when somebody tries to make an intelligent conversation around this subject. :angry2:

isn't it all based around myths and legends anyway? and myths originate from somewhere so there may be at least a little truth in it.

i think the da vinci code has more facts than the bible anyways.

first of all, you have to believe that Jesus was a real person in the first place...

i think some christians could be making a big stink about this movie for a different reason. instead of people debating if jesus ever existed or not, now the argument is 'was jesus married to so & so'. it puts the notion in your head that he indeed existed so in a way, it kind of helps them.

To be on topic..yea in the bible it says that the devil will deceive many by turning others away from God so maybe this is the fact..that the great seller 'da vinci code' will question many ppl and make many beleivers turn away from God.

i'm christian and i think all this 'da vinci code' disscussion is useless.Many people say the facts in the story is true but how can dan brown find all that evidence of jesus' wife is mary magdelaene?I mean..the famous creationist,scientists,etc did not support that finding and the book is fictional.If it is true what difference does it make? Well..maybe to catholics but Jesus is the important one here..the movie and book were more focused on mary than God if you asked me =/ Why make such a huge deal about it?? Dan Brown may claim the facts are true but they are NOT.
