None of the creatures were captured, but Coleman says scientists still learned some important details. For instance, he says while most folks call them "sea serpents," lake monsters are actually mammals and "closer to seals than eels." And how did they find this out?

But if they're cryptids, there's no solid proof that they exist at all, so this is just conjecture, basically, right?

Yes it is, I think they have based most of their findings on eyewitness reports.

The article says that there has been an increase in eye-witness accounts.. has it generated any photos/video of these creatures... i think there are few if any decent images of these creatures (which is a shame).
