UM-Bot Posted March 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Image credit: NASA Submitted by Waspie Dwarf: The British physicist Professor Stephen Hawking is to take a zero-gravity flight in a specially modified plane next month. Professor Hawking said as someone who has studied gravity all his life, he was excited at the thought of experiencing weightlessness. His trip is being paid for by an American firm, Zero Gravity, which normally charges $3,750 (£1,915). It also plans to have two seats on the flight auctioned off by charities. secondhand Posted March 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2007 I reckon he's going to live in orbit, ruling the earth from the heavens with the aid aof a giant robot. Sort of like that dude off Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the pink blob with a giant robot body. I forget his name.
Lilly Posted March 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2007 You rock Professor Hawking! I think it's wonderful. If anyone deserves a chance to "go up there" he does. Recently someone said to me, "What if he dies up there?"...to which I replied, "So what? To die doing what you love is the most any of us can ever hope for". Wolfen69 Posted March 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2007 Hawking use to be one of my favorite authors. In the past few years his mind has started to slip. The one comment that he made that still bugs me today is “I like this Theory because it is one that God would like it.” That about knocked me out of my chair. Here was one of the brightest minds of all time saying God does not know the answer but would think idea would work. Do not get me wrong I have no problem with him believing in God or anything like that. I have so much respect for this guy it is not funny. If you get some time sit down and read about him. I am not talking about what he has wrote but about his life I would tell you to do it in a heartbeat. He is one of the few people I know that can put ideas into words that every day people can understand and does not go over their heads. I say do not only put him on the plane but, he should have his own personal room at the bunny ranch. Best case T-Shirt sails of “I LOVE Stephen Hawking” shirts would go up and who knows maybe a bunch of little Hawkings to take his place when the world darkens by his passing. One side note I would love to hear his impression of Hal 2000… “Sorry Dave I cannot let you do that.”

Btw, what you think of the new TMNT movie coming out? Off topic, I know.

ROGER Posted March 5, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2007 I dont think 25 seconds would be enough for me. A good Roller coaster ride would give you the same effect , and for far less money. Now if they could get Hawking to the Space Station for a week , that would give him the true feeling of freedom.
