I would have rather done my MSc. thesis on cetaceans, you are right but most MSc. supervisors sadly have a strange aversion to wild marine mammal projects (unreliable data, lots of money needed, complicated stats) and I didn't want to do one in captivity, so I ended up doing on on wolves and bears in a mixed species exhibit instead- guaranteed data, little money... In captivity maybe but at least with a) a species that copes better and a population that is comprised entirely of rescued animals...
