Did Earth's moon form around Mercury ?

I not sure where I heard this, i always though that our moon originally belong to venus . and latter getting caught by earth gravity . if it really form around mercury , the chance endup eaten by sun is much higher

I think the Moon is from Cheese Universe!

I dunno, the current theory of another planet colliding with Earth in the Solar Systems early formation, creating a spray of debris around Earth. More plausible than the theory this OT states.

the problem i see is that the moon is moving away from the earth not closer.

If the Moon was formed near mercury the rotation would be much faster, and the spin would allow us to see both sides. The fact that only one side faces us is the clincher for the Earth Impact theory.Or so I reason.

I can't see this making sense. The moon's isotope ratios indicate a kinship with the Earth, as does its low iron content. The large impact hypothesis makes the most sense of anything I've seen in any of my astronomy courses. The problem with the idea that the moon was captured from elsewhere in the solar system is that the Moon would fall towards the Earth, gaining EXACTLY the velocity it would require to escape again in addition to whatever velocity it had initially. Well, I imagine lots of posts like this one are hitting the forums; how can they not? With the sun's immediate and logarithmic response to the impact on the Moon, it validates the 'impactor theory' in a whole new way: Something (the fall-back when one does not understand) caused the planet in the Astroid Belt to 'jump' to a new E valley, and its motion was directed inward which makes Mars, Venus or Earth the E valleys targeted.
