What really scares people

I don't understand though, only 10% of people have a phobia? I thought that like, 99% of girls were scared of spiders.

I don't have a phobia but I am uncomfortable with heights and public speaking or generally socialising with people I don't know. Oh and I don't like needles/syringes. Unlike most of my friends though, I am not afraid of spiders, never have been. I might be startled if I found a tarantula in my living room but that's about it.

A fear of spiders is more common among women than men. The article says it's to do with seeing spiders in a field but why that? People don't work on the land anymore as we or our ancestors used to. Why should a phobia have an effect on other generations? The other theory is girls looking at images of spiders and people being afraid of them. Remember Little Miss Muffet?

I've been afraid of spiders for as long as I can remember. When I was little I was even afraid of fake spiders. Most other critters (rats, bats, most bugs, snakes) don't bother me. I also have social phobia..not just public speaking. For me it's an intense fear of most social situations. This is probably the worst phobia to have IMO. It's much easier to avoid things like spiders..I can't avoid people.

My phobia, is never to be touched. Seriously!! I dread, fear the idea that no-one will ever touch me again....

one thing i really hate is walking off the bus sounds weird but its true its a scary moment for me its like 100 people looking at the back of your head and then you think your walking funny :/ i think its all down to confidence but its still a scary moment for me bus phobia i cant wait till i get a car

You would have hated this...confined space rescue training. This pic was taken at the end of a 150 foot long, 24 inch wide pipe...all underground. So small that you had to worm your way along by shimmying an inch or two at a time. I almost broke into a sweat just thinking about this... I would die from panic in such a confined space.

I'm surprised sharks aren't there. My husband is scared to death of them! I hate snakes. People who are not scared of them should live where I do. Copperheads are everywhere, as well as water mocassins. I was bit by a copperhead when I was 6. It was very painful!
