Are these sauropod dinosaurs... or something else ? Image Credit: YouTube / CdeCiencia
The viral clip shows what appear to be long-necked dinosaurs roaming around next to some ruins.
These days you can never quite believe what you see, especially online, which is why this short viral video - which recently racked up over two million views - requires more than a brief glance to fully appreciate.
Filmed next to some ruins in Guatemala, it shows a number of small creatures roaming around on the grass.
What makes it weird, however, is the fact that these creatures - with their long curved necks - bear an uncanny resemblance to Brachiosaurs - long-necked sauropod dinosaurs of the Jurassic era.
Obviously this is impossible - especially given their tiny size - so what's actually going on ?
It turns out that the reason the video looks weird is because the uploader has reversed the footage.
In actual fact, the video shows little more than a group of coatis (a type of small mammal) roaming around on the grass with their tails in the air.
With the footage reversed, the tails appear to be at the front of their bodies and look like necks.
It's a neat and simple illusion and one that has certainly managed to attract a lot of attention online.
