Leading zoologist Dr Brian McNab has described dinosaurs as the "couch potatoes" of the prehistoric world due to their sedentary lifestyle and easy access to food helping them grow in to the largest land animals ever to walk the Earth.
Dinosaurs were so big because they were the "couch potatoes" of the prehistoric world, leading zoologist Dr Brian McNab has claimed."

Interesting theory none the less, I wonder how seriously it will be debated in the scientific community or if it will eventually drop off the map on it's own accord.

rich humans are sedentary couch potatoes who have plenty to eat too. maybe one day they will become as round as balloons with stumpy limbs, like the humans who live offworld on the colony ship in the movie Wall-E.

So the dinosaurs got big because the vegetation got big. The predators got bigger, because their prey got bigger; sounds logical. I hope the human race goes the path of having bigger brains, and not fatter bodies =)

If that would be the case, you'd think zoo animals would indicate a similar pattern.

I think it had something to do with the higher oxygen content in the air back then, which is why the vegetation grew huge, then insects, and everything else. I know there's been scientific studies done to exposing plants, insects and other things to higher oxygen levels for a prolonged period of time, and they've increased in size. You can probably find information through google on the subject matter, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the oxygen levels. The dinosaurs though I'm sure grew huge because of their food sources. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me =D

Maybe they were more like lounge lizards?

Maybe they were more like lounge lizards? Now I have the theme for Leisure Suit Larry 1 playing in my head.

For some reason I have a picture of a random carnosaur leaning up against a rock with a bag of smaller vegetarian dinosaurs popping them in his mouth like potato chips all the while thinking "Can't have just one". Unless of course you were a Chucknorrisaurous.
