Scientists have found that dolphins are able to communicate with one another through the slapping of their tails in what can be described as a form of sign language that is not dissimilar to human communication.
Dolphins "talk" to each other with body movements like the slap of a tail, in a form of sign language based on similar rules to human communication, scientists have found.

Dolphins also talk to researchers using tail slaps, tail slapping in response to an approaching boat is widely understood to mean; 'P*ss off, you are annoying!'

I love them. They are very emotional creatures, similar to humans, I got humped by one once long story. They use their cone-shaped teeth to mark other dolphins and claim alpha position. When I dealt with them I learned that they can be quite playful and protective

Dolphins are not the lovable creatures that people assume they are. They can be very aggressive and violent. Often they will attack even individuals of there own kind and make a game of killing it. They are also very sexual as another poster mentioned and have on some occasions hurt people trying to engage in their version of foreplay. I know of instances where they've almost drown women in a sexual frenzy and wouldn't be surprised if a drowning has actually happened. If someone washed up on shore, who would even consider that they were drown by a pod of sexually aggressive dolphins?

Most dolphins have fission-fusion social structures, long lasting groups are very rare, so there is no real alpha position, unlike with wolves. The longest lasting associations are between mother and calf pairs or male-male coalitions which often have the purpose of coercing females into mating, which is why females often have more rake marks than males. As many animals they can seem playful but I would be careful of attributing to much emotions or protectiveness to their actions.Oh thank you hun... my bad I should have known that... When you say humped are we talking: Well yes but only my leg... [More]
