In the housing market homeowners and property managers do their best to attract renters to their advertisements including a growing trend to claim their property to be haunted - but how well can such claims be trusted ?
The Tucson housing market is teeming with houses and apartments for rent. On Craigslist alone, hundreds of rental opportunities scream for attention. Homeowners and property managers try to convey that one unique quality that will draw the eyes of a potential renter to their ad.

There are plenty of people who will advertise a home or room as haunted if they're trying to make some money. It's a buying point for some and a selling point for others. In addition, most people don't know that whoever is selling you a home is required to tell you of any deaths or supposed hauntings that have taken place in the home or on its grounds if you ask.

Not a good idea, when i go to bed, i like to sleep throughout the night and not wake up until morning. I like the idea of a ghost being around me, but most hauntings will wake people up in the middle of the night only cause of the few disturbance the Ghost are wanting to do to get your goddamn attention. You know what would make all of it stop, if you could find out, what the bloody hell their trying to tell you. *sigh*

There's at least one hotel here in Oz (up in Barcaldine in Queensland) that openly advertises the presence of a ghost in the rooms. Stone me if the place isn't creepy as hell in the daytime let alone at night...

A good haunting story has long been a way to make a place stand out for financial gain.

This does not surprise me. I just wonder how many people would avoid the property/ room based upon the information that it is haunted. While a haunted place may be fun to visit living in one is whole other story.

While a haunted place may be fun to visit living in one is whole other story. Depends on the type of haunting and the type of person you are. My parents house is believed to be haunted by my grandmother. It was, beforehand, my grandparents house on my mother's side in the first place. She died six years before I was born. I've experienced the typical footsteps, water running, and microwave working in the morning hours. This happened to me often as a kid, but as... [More]

In Kentucky, if you believe your house to be haunted, it's against the law to put it up for sale without making sure possible buyers know about it. That includes calling in a team to verify/debunk paranormal activity.

Reminds me how Skamania County in Washington made it illegal to kill a Bigfoot under penalty of $1,000 fine and five years in jail.
