Frank Drake has expressed an interest in sending out a spacecraft to listen for alien signals where they'd be easier to pick up.
By sending the listening post 82 billion kilometers from the Earth the gravitational lensing effect from our sun would help focus signals from distant regions of space and make them easier to detect.
Frank Drake, the founder of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), wants to take the search for aliens further: about 82 billion kilometres away, in fact. At this point in space, electromagnetic signals from planets orbiting distant stars would be focused by the gravitational lensing effect of our sun, making them, in theory, more easily detected.
