Distant planet being destroyed by host star

A team of astrophysicists have found that a massive planet in a distant solar system is being distorted and destroyed by its star.
The find gives astronomers a rare chance to observe the final stage of a planet's life cycle, at over 50% larger than Jupiter and 75 times closer to its star than the Earth is to the Sun however it is quite unlike anything in our own solar system.An international group of astrophysicists has determined that a massive planet outside our Solar System is being distorted and destroyed by its host star -- a finding that helps explain the unexpectedly large size of the planet, WASP-12b.
