The Pope's astronomer has said that he believes intelligent alien life with souls may be living among the stars.
Speaking at the British Science festival Guy Consolmagno also stated that he believed depending on Creationism to explain how we all came to be and the revival of the idea of "intelligent design" was "bad theology"
Intelligent aliens may be living among the stars and are likely to have souls, a senior Vatican scientist said yesterday. The Pope's astronomer, Guy Consolmagno, said he would be happy to 'baptise an al ien' - but admitted that the chances of communicating with life outside the Earth were low.

This article is actually rather earth shaking! The Catholic Church holds that the first man and woman committed "Original Sin." Thus we needed a savior to redeem us from are fallen state. That redemption is applied through the sacraments, like Baptism. Aliens technically would not need Baptism, since there not descendants of Adam & Eve! The existence of Aliens creates all kinds of theological problems; especially in regards to the first parents, and "original sin." There may be some new ideas floating around Vatican circles on the interpretation of Genesis and "Orignal Sin"; which would be... [More]

Awesome idea, yeah let's try and convince an advanced being that the bible is the be all and end all of everything and miss out some of human races history on purpose to cover it up..... So the pagans never celebrated their holidays on Christmas and Easter etc before the Romans decided to put Christian holidays on those days to try and push paganism out of Britain. (and some of Europe) Let's not tell them about the great beasts who roamed before the age of man. So Dinosaurs, giant sea creatures and giant mammals didn't exist. Let's tell them that some of the human race is so dumb and stupid th... [More]

*LOL* Dear aliens, please join our religion, called Christianity. Basically, Christianity is the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Heh, I'm glad to make someone smile. I could have put the nasty spin on it; Dear aliens, please join our religion, called Christianity. Christianity is basically a choice - If you choose our God, he will love you forever in a wonderful place called heaven. If you choose not to, he is angry, vengeful and jealous and sends you to suffer and eternity in hell. See, a choice!

Currently I'm on a trip in Utah where the LDS church's main temple in Salt Lake City has an exhibit on the planet evolve around a hidden star called Kolob, home of Elohim the God (same god, different version of him) described in the Book of Mormon. I'm being polite about it, not say things in an "out of towner" way in the middle of a Mormon majority state, but a mainstream religious movement like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints discussed the possibility of God they call "Elohim" lives on a planet revolve around that hidden star.

What if they have it mind to come here and "baptize" us? LOL. Something like that seems far more likely to me, for better or worse.

This is just getting too hilarious! What If an alien came down and found a baptist minister who tells him about Jesus and the alien says Oh my uncle Arthurs' kid who was sent to the lost colony of the Nephilim experiment. He was one of many trying to show you the true meaning of the Golden Rule and make it a better workable world before we came back to check on you. The crusades, the holocaust, the wars, the greed, destroying your own enviroment all in the name of an alien God and you're going to save me by immersing me in water? The Baptist say "Be gone Satan" and intergalactic crusades begin... [More]

Seriously I tend to believe that there are "aliens" of light aka angels that in essence have no physical form. The lower aliens of physical matter or form would also have to have a living soul or consciousness. All creatures with life have a living or a balanced body in their enviroment and that in turn produces a consciousness at a higher or lower level and no matter how different from us they all still have that life force or "soul". It's naive to believe we are alone and some of these alien beings have not touched our civilization in one way or another. The universe we live in has a structu... [More]
