Original blueprints for the ship Captain Scott used to sail to the Antarctic have been discovered.
The blueprints were found at Goole Shipyard which had planned to burn the prints along with over paperwork until draughtsman Harry Smith realised their importance. Scott's ship, the RRS Discovery, was originally constructed in Dundee. "We would certainly be interested in having them for the museum as we don't currently have any original plans from the building of Discovery in our collections," said Gill Poulter of the Dundee Heritage Trust.
Original and rare blueprints of the ship Discovery, used by explorer Captain Scott for his polar expedition, have turned up in East Yorkshire more than 100 years after his voyage.

"There were two sets and he brought back both. At the same time he contacted the National Maritime Museum to alert them to the blueprints. They took away one full set and the other stayed at home," said Mrs Cannon. Why the National Maritime Museum didn't place those fantastic document on display for all to see? PS: Merry Xmas Still Waters.

Why the National Maritime Museum didn't place those fantastic document on display for all to see? PS: Merry Xmas Still Waters. It's a wonder they didn't. It would have made an ideal exhibit, but perhaps they thought it best to keep it safe under lock and key. Thank you, and a Merry Christmas to you too
