Meldrum was an expert on primate movements and foot morphology - skills that he applied to the Bigfoot mystery.
Born in 1958, Jeff Meldrum was a professor of Anatomy and Anthropology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University and was perhaps best known for his many contributions to the Bigfoot phenomenon, about which he authored the book Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science in 2006.

Unlike many Bigfoot researchers, he was able to use his knowledge of anthropology to offer an analytical approach to the study of alleged Bigfoot footprints and to determining how such a creature might move.

Throughout his life, he believed that Bigfoot is indeed a real creature and added an element of authenticity to the field thanks to his academic background.

"It is with profound sadness that the Meldrum family shares that Dr. Meldrum has passed following a battle with brain cancer," his widow wrote on Facebook on September 11th.
"The illness was brief and he passed with his family at his side. He loved teaching and researching Bigfoot. But he was a husband and father first."

"I am so grateful to have shared the last 17 years of my life with him. He was a force of nature."

"Please respect our privacy in our time of grief."

Dr. Jeff Meldrum showed that not all Bigfoot believers are goofballs and weirdos. He was a professor of primate anatomy at Idaho State U, and truly intelligent. I am sad to hear of his passing.

Very sad to hear of Dr. Meldrum’s passing.  I wonder who is going to get his cast collection?

He left a wife and six sons, so maybe them. If it's someone in the field, maybe bigfoot enthusiast Brittany Barbieri, who was his close friend.

Nice.  There is a lot of evidence in that collection.  It’s probably the foremost in the world.  The dermal ridge feature is an interesting aspect to consider when looking at actual tracks verses human made hoaxes.  It would never have even been considered by a hoaxer to put dermal ridges in footprints. IMO.

RIP Dr. Meldrum, a man of of quiet optimism and scientific honesty. He was certainly a believer's top proponent in how he researched and explained the items he was tasked to examine. He was a very set on the creature (as described) as being real. I will always respect the manner in which he conducted himself even after he was fooled by a deliberate hoaxer. Very good question Guy. I would guess the BRFO guys might make a request to obtain them. Or maybe George Noory?  Surely there's someone within that sphere that has the interest and money to request for them.
