A woman who was thought to have had no chance of recovery was seemingly cured by a strong jolt on the road.
According to reports, the 50-year-old - who hails from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, India - had taken seriously ill at home and was rushed to hospital.
Sadly, doctors were unable to treat her condition and she ended up essentially brain dead.
After a time, it became apparent that she was never going to recover - she was unable to breathe unassisted and her brain showed no signs of conscious activity.
Her husband had warned family members that they should prepare for the worst and the decision was made to discharge her from hospital so that she could spend her remaining days at home.
But then, something very strange happened.
While she was being transported to her home in the back of an ambulance, the vehicle went over a large pothole, causing a sudden jerk which jolted everything and everyone inside.
Incredibly, this jolt seemed to have had a profound impact, as within seconds the woman's husband noticed that she had started breathing on her own, prompting a return to the hospital.
Amazingly, she went on to make a full recovery and was able to return home two weeks later.
According to neurosurgeon Dr Rakesh Singh, the woman had been completely unresponsive prior to the incident with the pothole.
Exactly how this had managed to revive her brain functions remains a total mystery.
